Drug rehabilitation/ work in prison

yoga

PFN offers courses based around yoga and the Art of Living in Peace. The comments below are from former residents of the Phoenix Centre in Sheffield who participated in an ALP course. All participants are still successfully drug free over a year later.

What aspects of the course were particularly valuable to you?

“Looking at the impact as an individual on social and environmental issues. How I can change small aspects of my life to help the whole.”

“Relaxation, meeting people. More understanding of peoples’ ideas.”

Any other comments ?

“The reality of how connected we are was a huge impact, that we aren’t as separate as sometimes we like to think that we are.”

“As an ex drug user the model of society and the individual presented in the workshop gave me the hope of being able to reconnect with the society and individual I rejected and despised. Acceptance will help me remain drug free”

“Trying to live a more peaceful life is very important to me. The very chaotic lifestyle I once had seems a long way away and now getting further thanks partly to courses and practices like these. Nice one.”

“The message given over the two day period has been inspirational. A lot of the workshop topics I was already aware of, still the message rekindled how I act, emotionally and physically. The message is simple enough to use in every aspect of life.”

“ALP helps address the pain inherent in the nature of addiction ie pain of loneliness, isolation, loss of hope for change personally and externally. These are symptoms left behind after drugs and drink are put down.”
