LIVING IN PEACE - Support and Development Group

Would you like to be part of a newly forming group where interested people would come together in an exploration and celebration of ourselves, our relationships and our place in the Universe?
The group will use many methods to enhance its growth and development incorporating song, dance, movement, meditation, relaxation, enquiry etc. All things that nurture us.
We will support one another in our endeavour to live more peaceful connected lives.
The group will be a wonderful resource for those who have participated in the Art of Living in Peace workshop, or others who are wanting to live a more peaceful life. It will act as a means to support practice and continue some of the themes experienced within the Art of Living in Peace.
Below are some outline themes and values that would underpin the Peace group.

  • The group would be in accord with the principles outlined in the Art of Living in Peace workshop.
  • Peace is much more than our inner state of being; it is a full dynamic creative process.
  • Peace begins with ourselves and expands to our relationships with others and the environment including all life cycles.
  • Within the group we would endeavour to develop a culture of peace through are interactions where we celebrate and honour our differences and our Unity however challenging this may sometimes be.
  • We offer each other space to express, explore, engage and be present with mutual support, building openness, trust and respect.

These short, powerful programmes have transformed many pupils' lives. Students are taught techniques to deal with stress, develop inner peace and peace with others. The six week Juniper small group programme is suitable for year 5 upwards, other programmes are available for younger age groups.

The programmes are particularly relevant to the areas of inclusion, transition and developing SEAL/PSHE/Citizenship and the new SEAL curricula. They are also very supportive for students feeling stressed by exams.

Training is offered to school staff through national training days, INSET sessions and through participation in the programmes. Click here for more information.

Abbey helps out

When Kathy Miller of Abbey Charitable Trust visited St Catherines Primary School Pitsmoor to present a cheque to the Peace Foundation Network she could not resist joining in. It was Anti-bullying week and the children were practising being kind by writing kind comments on each others backs.
The cheque for £2906 is to pay for the publication of a resource book for parents and teachers and 5,000 CDs for sheffield youngsters. The CDs are distributed as part of the Peace Foundation Network charity's programme in schools. The programme includes work on dealing with stress, being a good friend, feeling confident and standing up to bullies. It emphasises practice at home and the CD helps pupils and their families to practice relaxation techniques. The new resource book will help parents to support their children or teachers to provide follow up work in class. Copies of the book and CD are available from the Peace Foundation Network.
