Our Patron Nick Clegg MP with children showing the CDs they had received at the end of a workshop. “Parents have said they like the CD and enjoyed using it….children were calmer as a result of the workshop” Carey O’Donoghue Y6 teacher St. Oswald’s Lessons for Key Stage 2 pupils. Based around the new CD created with Firth Park students, the children are introduced to calming and relaxing techniques including :-
All pupils receive a copy to the CD to support practice at home. Detailed notes are given to teachers to enable practice to continue and suggesting follow-up activities.
“Children very supportive of each other…Very proud of CD and their positive thought cards…Has generated a greater class unity…I will definitely be trying the follow up activities…” O’Neil Y6 teacher, Whiteways Junior “Quite a few (children) came after the weekend and said they had used it (the CD). Before each SAT test I got the children to relax from toes upwards and be still.” Wendy Rooke Y6 class teacher Hatfield Primary Secondary level A modified version is available for smaller groups of selected students. “For some years we have worked with Claire Finka, Director of the Peace Project, on activities focusing on the wellbeing of young people. ..We have found this work to be influential in helping students with home and school issues.” Mo Laycock, Head of Firth Park Community Arts College.
